What to Expect

At the Back to Health Chiropractic & Acupuncture Wellness Center, your first visit will typically consist of a consultation with the doctor, an evaluation by the doctor and a discussion about the findings and the suggested plan. Then, once you’re comfortable, your first treatment. Please allow approximately 45 min to 1 hour of time for your first visit, a bit longer if you request/require additional treatments such as acupuncturecold laser or kinesio taping. Call the office at (203) 263-0411, for your first appointment today!

Your initial appointment will begin by you telling the doctor how your injury began. What hurts? Where does it hurt? When did it begin? What does the pain feel like? Does it affect your daily activities? Have you had any prior treatments with different physicians? The doctor will then ask specific questions to fill in the blanks and get a complete picture of how the injury happened.
The doctor will then use the information learned from the history to determine what steps need to be taken during the exam.  Different tests will be performed (functional, orthopedic and neurological) each to help identify what structures are involved. In many cases the area that is painful isn’t the only problem area involved. These tests will help determine problems that may have initiated the injury process in the first place such as muscle imbalance, weakness and tightness, all which may be the causing factor of your pain
All of the information gathered from the history and exam are then combined to form a complete diagnosis. The doctor will then go over the results of the exam with you and explain all of the important information in a way that is easy to understand and relate to.  We are happy to answer any and all questions that you may have.
The next step will be to formulate a treatment plan that would both maximize your ability to heal quickly and effectively and minimize the chances of flare ups and the injury recurring. Your treatment plan will be explained to you as well as the treatment strategy that is necessary to fix your problem. Your treatment process doesn’t end when you leave the office. It is essential that we include home exercises and advice on how to avoid perpetuating factors so that your injury doesn’t recur in the future.  Throughout your course of treatment, the doctor will help you identify and correct the problems that are responsible for your injury in the first place.

Please call the office if you have any questions at all about your care. We’re happy to hear from you! (203) 263-0411
